*¹ The three computers that Byte Magazine referred to as the "1977 Trinity" of home computing: The Commodore PET 2001, the Apple II, and the TRS-80 Model I.
*² 'PET' is named after Pet Rock in Los Gatos / the 'pet computer'. Backronymed as 'Personal Electronic Transactor'. Commodore was the first company to license Microsoft's 6502 BASIC, but the agreement nearly drove Microsoft into receivership as Commodore stipulated that they would only pay for it when the PET began shipping.
